Grand Egyptian Museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum is located a few miles west of Cairo near the Pyramids of Giza. It is being built to be the world's largest archaeological museum, receiving millions of visitors annually.

In addition to the buildings for commercial and recreational services, the complex includes the restoration centre and the museum garden, in which trees known to the ancient Egyptians will be planted. Egypt launched a campaign to finance the project, estimated to cost about 550 million US dollars, with Japan contributing 300 million as a soft loan.

The museum is scheduled to include more than 100,000 artefacts from the Pharaonic, Greek and Roman eras, which will give a major boost to the tourism sector in Egypt.
